Good day everyone! It has been an exciting start to the new year and SODALUG is rolling along with tons of opportunities out in the community! We've kicked off our 'Year of the Builder' imitative which aims to put the spotlight on the talents of individual members of our club. Every other month a member is selected and presents their love of the hobby, what they build, what they are working on currently, what they are proud of, and what inspires them to keep building and creating! This months Builder is Matt Lipinski - Matt is our clubs resident "Bionicle Guy". Bionicles are a powerful niche within the LEGO community as the part set allows for intensely unique creations to be made. Matt has a love for making things move, you won't find a creation or MOC from Matt that doesn't have hidden play features or new moving parts that you wouldn't have expected.
Matt is also an avid collector of all Bionicle sets and has a very respectable collection from the first series of Bionicles to everything in-between. One of his most recognizable MOCs today is the "USS Battleship South Dakota" a scale recreation of the South Dakota class battleships that saw services during the WWII made completely out of Bionicle parts and is six feet long! Matt's creation has won multiple awards in the regional LEGO community and it is currently awaiting a spot in the USS Battleship South Dakota Museum located in Sioux Falls, SD.
Matt continues to apply his craft making unique and remarkable creations out of Bionicle parts, wowing his community and his peers. We are excited to share the hobby with him and are thrilled his is a member of SODALUG. Thanks for all the hard work you put into your art Matt!
